MOVIE 1: The Sorcerer's Stone

Stuff that happens in the movie:
- (The past) Harry is shown being dropped off by 3 leaders of Hogwarts School on the doorstep of his only known family. They say they are doing this for his own good.

- Harry then grows up to age 11 with an aunt (sister of his mother), uncle, and a cousin his same age. All three of these abuse him and mistreat him.

- Harry's bedroom is the cloak closet under the stairs of the house.

- Harry is treated like a servant by his relatives who clearly despise him.

- Harry is pleasant and respectful.

- Harry has no idea who he really is or what his life's story is.

- Hogwart's begins to attempt to communicate with Harry by sending owls like carrier pigeons with letters. His relatives seem to know what this is and take/burn the letters. They continue this battle and at one point owls dump thousands of letters on the house.

- His aunt and uncle take him away to some remote place. In the middle of the night Hagrid shows up and busts thru the door and gives Harry a birthday cake and finally a letter. He tells Harry who he is and takes Harry with him.

- Because Harry's cousin is being mean Hagrid gives him a temporary pig tail but notes it's not permissible for him to do magic outside of school.

- Harry is brought to Hogwarts at age 11.

- Harry makes friends with Ron and Hermione on the train to the school.

- A boy named Draco Malfoy approaches Harry because he is famous and offers his friendship. He discourages Harry from hanging out with types like Ron Weasely. He says he can offer his services to help sort out what kinds of people to associate with. Harry immediately identifies Draco and tells Draco that he can sort out those types of people just fine on his own.

- Once at the school a "hat" sorts the kids into which "house" (dormitory) they will become a part of based on their character. It is said during this time that "all of those who have turned evil have been a part of Slytherin". When the hat is put on Harry he whispers to himself repeatedly, "Please, not Slyterin, not Slyterin…". Ron, Hermione, and Harry are all put in the same dormitory which is not Slyterin. (Draco ends up at Slyterin)

- Harry jumps on the giant troll in an attempt to save Hermione. Ron saves him with the spell, "Wingardium Leviosa". (below)

- Harry sees Draco Malfoy "stealing" from Neville and attempts to retrieve the item.

- The threesome of Harry, Ron, and Hermione figure out that a teacher (whom they misidentify) wants to steal something to give to the "satan-figure" so that this person can have life…and they do what they can to stop that from happening. They end up in a life-or-death chess game in which Ron willingly sacrifices himself so that Harry can continue and stop the bad guy from winning.

- Harry is faced with the bad guy at the end. He is not who they thought. The bad guy who serves "Voldemort" (the ultimate evil in this world) says that he saw that Harry was a danger to him from the start.

- Voldemort lives off of this person and speaks through this person. He speaks to Harry and offers him things to get what he wants. (tempts him). Voldemort asks Harry, "Why suffer a horrific death when you can join me and live?" He offers Harry his parents. He tempts him with everything that is Harry's heart's desire. Harry responds, "You liar!"

- The man who is controlled by Voldemort attacks Harry and attempts to strangle him but touching Harry's body burns his hands. His hand turn to dust and crumble. He then lunges at Harry who puts his hands on the attacker's face which burns his face then and it too turns to dust and crumbles. The entire body dissipates. Voldemort is now reduced to dust.

- Throughout the movie there is a "point system" active in the school based on behavior. There are 4 "houses" in the school all competing for the prize at the end of the school year. In the end, Neville is awarded 10 points for "standing up to friends which is harder than standing up to your enemies"…Hermoine and Ron are awarded 50 points each for their valor in the final battle, and Harry is awarded 60 points for his efforts…and because of these added points the whole house wins. The whole house benefits because of the threesome's acts.

Spells cast in the movie:

Oculus Repairus - fixed broken glasses. Used by Hermione on Harry's taped-together-glasses on the train to show Harry and Ron that she knew a spell.

Alohamora - opens locked doors. Used 2 times to open a door and used 1 time unsuccessfully.

Wingardium Leviosa - levitates things. This was first shown when the kids were in class. A teacher was showing them how to levitate a feather. It was later used when one of the teachers who was working for the main bad-guy in the movie unleashed a troll into the school. It went into the bathroom where Hermione was alone. Harry and Ron showed up and attempted to battle the troll (which was about 15 feet tall). It had a club and was attempting to beat Harry with is when Ron took out his wand and tried his newly-learned spell and said, "Wingardium leviosa!" and the troll's club levitated above his head then fell on his head knocking him out and saving the day.

Petrificus Totalus - "freeze". The night that the threesome was attempting to get out of the house at night (which was prohibited) one of their friends attempted to stop them. Because of the gravity of their need to get out that night, they used this spell against their housemate which made him fall over "frozen" onto the floor.

Lumus Solem - causes sunshine. Approaching the climax of the movie the threesome are in pursuit of the bad guy and get hung up in what appears to be vines or roots. It is a plant they identify as "Devil's Snare". Hermione realizes that the only thing that the Devil's Snare can't tolerate is sunlight. So, she casts the spell of sunlight to defeat the Devil's Snare and Ron is freed.
